agreed, and this was the biggest issue with the hit.

Regardless, it was a dirty hit, but mainly because of driving Daniels to the ground.

Watch again. Both feet 100% leave the ground right as he approaches Daniels for the hit. He uses that to drive his helmet into him all the way though into the ground, causing the injury.

Here is the defenseless player addition to the targeting rule, which few people around here seem to remember:

“ No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting.”

That describes the hit last night very well. Add the launch and it was textbook targeting.
