Taking a new approach to the season.

Please don't take this as "I'm above the fray" post, but I did something recently that I wish I had done a long time ago.
Last week I was sitting there watching the game and I was beginning to believe that it was going to be the same old song and dance.
After the 1st quarter I decided to go do something else because it was nice weather and I just thought there were better ways of spending my time.
Of course when I checked the score later I was shocked. In the past I would have kicked myself for missing it, but I didn't have any regrets.
I had a great afternoon and watching a 15 minute highlight video was actually somewhat more satisfying than suffering through all the uncertainty in real time.
I've stopped talking about the games during the week and I don't give them much thought.
I plan on watching the entire game today and I think this new approach will actually help me enjoy it more.
Football is supposed to be fun but it's actually less enjoyable when you're over saturated with it, at least at this point in my life.
With that being said Who Dat

It's a good approach. Many years ago, when so many were wearing bags, people would give me free tickets to the games. While winning is the ultimate goal in this game, I focused on the effort, the execution, and the battles of individual players. After halftime, back then, you could move down and sit right behind the team. Being a fan is a bit like being a player in that when you loosen up and enjoy the moments, you are better than if you let the stress of winning every play keep you uptight and angry. As you say, football is over saturated and I really don't like Thursday night games, but if one takes that more relaxed approach, the game is far more enjoyable....

I still have fun watching, i just get over the high or low of the results (win or lose) quicker then i did when i was younger.
The thing about the Saints is they’re like next level frustrating

all of the tough playoff losses in the past coupled with where the team is now (hot and cold) that's kind of how I feel about things as well.

Jesus
He's just saying it's not worth going through all the frustration of watching a team coached by Dennis Allen and life is more enjoyable when football doesn't consume you.

Why not have the Saints game on your phone and do multiple things at once?
I am going to watch the Saints and red zone for early slot, but for 3pm and Sunday night I'm going to be doing projects around the house as I listen / watch

I usually just keep it on the Saints while they are playing but will hit Redzone during the commercials. Just not every time there is a break.
Now on the afternoon slate, I just keep it on the redzone.
Sunday is my only off day so I take in all the football I can.

Learn how to respond to the person you're reacting to. Not my opinion.
Y'all are overreacting to a dude saying he's going to watch the game in it's entirety while not living and dying by each play.

None of us are meant for sports. That's why we're posting on here.

I've been consumed by the Saints for most of my life. I went to my first Saints game when I was 6 years old. That was 1988.
I still love the team. The way fans rally around the team is probably second only to Pittsburgh. I think it's because we're a small market and the Saints we're the biggest thing in town. They still are.
But I can't even calculate how many hours during the week I use to spend talking and thinking about the Saints.
I use to be one of the most active users on here. I racked up 30k post in under a year. I use to stay up till 2-3 in the morning with my wife sleeping next to me.
I'm still a big fan. I just did some growing up and took my time back. 3 hours a week and some chatter here and there is plenty.

Absolutely, it did. The years prior and following did too. I had my first kid last year and all of a sudden, football means way less than it did. Couple that with a mediocre coach and voila! I'll still watch every single game, talk about it the day after, and get excited when the next game approaches, but I'm not going to lose a second of sleep or allow myself to get so mad my day is ruined like I did back then.

Why would anyone not tell the truth on an anonymous message board? How old are you?

Can confirm. Most of us were consumed completely until the no call.

In the past I couldn’t miss a play of the game, I’m numb to them now. Granted I still watch but I don’t put them above real world things anymore like I used to
