Could Harbaugh simply be a better program builder than Ryan Day? Day took over in 2019. Harbaugh has good but not elite teams before 19 and now, 3 years in a row his teams are elite. Could he simply be winning recruiting battles and evaluations against their biggest competition?

His recruiting is nowhere near Days as evidenced by recruiting rankings. Day is even recruiting at a higher level than Urban Meyer at Ohio State.

Yes, he could be a better program builder. He also benefitted more than most the the extra season provided by the COVID year. Michigan has had a lot of sixth year players between COVID and redshirts. That two extra years helps a ton. He also hasn’t had guys leaving early like Ohio State.

3 years in a row Michigan has been elite?
