Tuesday CFB: New Mexico St at La Tech - CBSSN 6:00pm / Liberty at WKU - ESPNU 6:30

6:00pm
New Mexico State (5-3) at Louisiana Tech (3-5) - CBSSN
Jerry Kill has New Mexico State on the verge of going ot a bowl in back to back years for the first time since 1959/60 when they went to the Sun Bowl as a member of the Border Conference. They have won 3 games in a row and are coming off a convincing win over rival UTEP. The Aggies are 3-1 in CUSA and still have a shot at playing in the CUSA title game in December.
La Tech is starting to tailspin as they have lost 2 in a row and 4 of their last 5. A loss here tonight would make it unlikely they get to 6 wins needed for a bowl as they still have Liberty and Jacksonville State on the schedule. La Tech is 2-2 in CUSA and likely must win out to have a shot at the CUSA title game.
La Tech leads the series 8-4 overall and has won the last 6 however this is the first time the two schools have played since 2012.
6:300pm
Liberty (7-0) at Western Kentucky (4-3) - ESPNU
Liberty survived the second close scare in their last 3 games against a CUSA opponent against MTSU. They got a couple of huge breaks from officiating to win last week and need to stop having so many mistakes and breakdowns if they want to remain undefeated. They are 5-0 in CUSA and have a win over New Mexico State so it while it wouldn't be great to lose it also wouldn't be devastating in their quest to make the CUSA title game.
WKU is the latest school to fall victim to the surprising Jacksonville State Gamecocks and at 2-1 in conference needs a win keep pace w/NMSU in the CUSA title game race. The Hilltoppers offense will look to get back on track after scoring only 20 points against JSU.
The two teams last played in 2020 and Liberty leads the all time series 3-0

Ol’ country Jer is an old school fix-it ball coach. When programs need fixin’, AD’s come callin’. He’s going to have the boys from Las Cruces bowl eligible this eve. That’s just what he does.

Do these refs have money on New Mexico?

Is that the same POS that threw a punch earlier and didn’t get ejected?

Lost to Massachusetts (1-7) at home and already going bowling. The CUSA is so bad. Liberty may end up the lowest ranked undefeated team in mosern era at the end of the year
