I'm of the opinion that voters are reluctant to give the award to the same person back to back
I haven't noticed the media lobbying for Caleb Williams. Penix, sure. And the McCarthy thing is kind of weird.
But I think Williams would have to utterly dominate to win again

Agreed.
He may be invited but he's not winning it.

Williams hasn't been as prominent with the media talking heads for a week or so, but mark my words: one good game for him will set the tongues wagging his way again.
Penix has had two "meh" games yet he's still getting reacharounds from the media, especially the live-TV talking heads. I don't see that changing unless UW gets whacked in a game.
McCarthy is a serviceable system QB on a good team, but I think he's getting his knob slobbered on for the same reasons Mac Jones did. I think (and hope) that at some point his team gets ground down so that idiot talk will cease.
I'll say it again: It's one thing to be a good QB when the system makes you look good; it's quite another thing to be a good QB on a team where you make the system and team look good.
I hope that, in the end, JD5 keeps up his pace and the voters see that distinction when they cast their ballots.
