FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Harris County Sports Authority, Houston Pollution Control and Houston Astros announce a joint cooperative to convert Minute Maid Park into a landfill as Astros plan new ballpark.

Houston, Texas - October 17, 2023- In a historic announcement made on Tuesday morning the Houston Astros, Harris County Sports Authority in cooperation with Harris County Pollution Control announced their vision to transform Minute Maid Park into a state of the art landfill.

Recognizing the immediate need for more landfill space as the Harris County population continues to boom, HCPC Superintendent James Burton says they were inspired by the Astros play on the Minute Maid Park field in 2023. "As an avid Astros fan, I watched as the team accumulated their own collection of garbage on the field this year. It made sense that we build upon the foundation and legacy they've built in this stadium."

The Astros, known for being road warriors in 2023, will play every game on the road for the next 2 seasons as a replacement ballpark is constructed. Astros owner Jim Crane envisions this new Park as one that brings the road home. "Well what were going to do is create something of a hybrid ballpark containing elements of every major league ballpark. We'll have a green monster covered in Ivy. We'll have some rocks in center, fountains in right center, the right field foul pole will be 35 feet from home plate to honor Yankee Stadium. The measurements on the wall will be in meters. Were really gonna make this place feel like road."

Crane and the HCSA also announced an attached hotel where the team will be required to sleep on homestands.

If they had just played a fraction better in either of those games the series is 1-1, but again credit Rags for making all the plays defensively and their bullpen bowing it's neck. Just incredibly frustrating mostly uncompetitive at bats the few chances the Astros have had RISP.

Outside of Framber, the pitching staff has done an incredible job. 6.1 innings of shutout one hit baseball yesterday after Framber got the hook.

Crazy that it’s been this way the entire year. Baws need to step it up and keep grinding away.

Are the Astros declining ? Getting older.
Rebuild ? It was a good run since winning 51 games in 2013.

it's wild what a good 10 year run does to a franchise and its' fanbase.

I am lucky to watch the Astros win two world championships in my lifetime. I was in Houston in 1986 when the Astros blew the series against the Mets. I never thought that I would see the Astros or the NFL Saints win a title.

I’m not greedy though. I figure the Astros will start declining as most of us expect. Everything happens in cycles in baseball. Look at the Baltimore Orioles. 4 years ago, they were dead last and now they have more talent.

I hope Bregman and Altuve remain lifelong Astros though.

Yep, Alabama-esque

Nobody wins back to back anymore in anything. All the favorites outside of Houston lost before this point

Still doesn't make it feel any better after following the season in its entirety

Back-to-back titles are hard to get but they set a team apart in history. This year has been frustrating because it doesn’t always feel like the players are put in the best positions to succeed or, in some cases, even given a chance to succeed.

But the players haven’t done themselves any favors at times. The poor ABs with RISP in Game 2 are a prime example.

Tuve not going anywhere.

I don't see any way possible we re-sign Bregman. He treats every AB as a $30 M man that he's not. Somebody will overpay him like they did with Springer and Correa

Only chance I see that he stays is if he realizes that he is more Brantley and less take your pick of any player making $30 M

We've got a -38 home/road home run differential. It's the worst in Minute Maid Parks 24 seasons. The previous low mark was -21.

There's been 8 seasons of the 24 at Minute Maid with a negative home/road home run differential, 5 of them have come during the "Golden era" run. Reinforcing the idea that the core of this team wasn't built for the park they play half their games

As always, the off season will be interesting to follow. This one a bit more than most hopefully, once there's a managerial change.

The sad part is that you look forward to it in the hopes to reach where you are now, and right now your back is against the wall

Good thing we play our best at Globe Life. Win 3, come back to Minute Maid, open the roof to release the bad juju, and advance.

Yordan seemed annoyed when asked about the “virus”. He said “it was something personal and I don’t know how it got out.”

Hey man. Dogs get out the house sometimes, you know hey. Our dog Skip used to get out my dad would tell me Johnnie Jr, get your arse after that dog. Yordan got after that dog yesterday man. He's the real dog. Hey you know Hey man. Hey.

Only glimmer of hope left is that we've played well in Arlington and on the road generally, and Javier has shown good signs of late. Still going to need a good game from Framber which seems impossible at this point

Could be up 2-0 if Framber wasn't a headcase and someone besides YorGod does anything offensively. Very frustrating.

2022 was cathartic for me. I’m surprised how chill I am right now. Maybe the lack of sleep from parenthood has more to do with it

I actually really like Max/Javi in Globe Life for us. I can’t see a full comeback with Framber pitching the way he is, but I think we’ll get it back to the house of horrors known as MMP.

Bregman had the game tying hit, just the baseball gods didn’t allow it in game 1.

If anyone at all had been on base for the Yordan homers.

If someone would just tell Framber to never throw the ball to a base. Just hold the damn ball. He just cannot make a throw to first.
