They just put out too much from these franchises.

If it were only that simple.

It's PART of the equation, but the bad product coupled with a hostile, holier-than-thou attitude toward their fanbase is equally to blame.

Alienating consumers is a hell of a way to run a business.

It's not just Disney, but I see them as the biggest offender. Something changed over the last 15 or 20 years and studios stopped making movies the fans want and started making movies they want, frequently to push a message.

Star Wars may be the best example of this. Kathleen Kennedy has been vocal that she doesn't care what the fans want or think. She has her personal vision of what Star Wars should be, and that's what it is.

In the podcast from the Watch (which was referenced in this thread or whatever other melty Marvel thread du jour was around this week), they made a good point that Marvel assumed its fans were ready to jump from more traditional comic settings into a complicated multiverse, and that seems to be a major miscalculation.

Everything planned, schemed, or executed since the production of Endgame has just been a pretty big failure (I have not seen GOTG3 admittedly but I've heard it was good).

Bad characters, bad luck (Boseman's death, primarily), bad story choices, over saturation, bad qualify of most output, etc. It's just all bad.
