I think Disney is in huge trouble financially, because they need some new ideas

Or some old ones. Superheroes and comic book characters skew male in their audience interest. Trying to push predominantly female superheroes just misses the audience mark.

They botched Star Wars, which they're trying to fix; but a couple good TV shows don't make up for poisoning the well with that sequel trilogy, not yet.

They wanted to break it. So they could sell a different one. That now doesn't sell.

As for the MCU, I think they did great with that... but it's outlasted it's welcome. It's over, and I just don't care anymore.

I'm pretty done with the marvel universe as Disney has reimagined it lately. Super Homer Simpson the God of Thunder or Sorcerer Supreme doesn't have much appeal.

Superhero movies are as simple as beer commercials to do well, yet the entertainment and marketing industries continually frick it up.

Likable hero who can drop witty one-liners and looks like he spent time in a gym

Cool costume (this can't be stated enough)

Sidekick who is either charming in his/her own right or sets up the hero to be funny

Female hero has a sexy/skintight outfit that appeals to young men (hiring an actress who has never uttered the words "patriarchy" or "oppressed" a must)

If hero doesn't have powers then cool gadgets

A badass villain (second most important ingredient)

An intelligent, coherent plot. We're not making history here, just entertainment

That's about it. It's not rocket surgery.
