MUCH different experience on the big screen compared to tv. Felt like you were totally immersed in the horror of it. True horror, not blood and gore, but something on a deeper level. Holds up really well. No one was laughing or cracking jokes during the show.

I saw it too! Really enjoyed it, and made me remember how good those older horror movies are. I hope they show The Omen next.

Do I have to believe in the debil to reach this deeper level?

Keep it up. I'm going to chain you to a chair and force you to watch LSUs 2023 defense over and over.

What did I write?

The Exorcist, right? There is only one movie with that name.

The Exorcist is just a very well made movie, even beyond the parts that were obviously meat to scare the viewer. The acting, the setting, the cinematography, etc... and the great Mike Oldfield score just tops it off.
This is the reason it still works today.

I’ve seen The Exorcist in the theater a few times now and you are so right about the experience. It’s a very claustrophobic movie and it plays best on a larger screen with immersive sound for that incredible score.

Just asking because of the new Exorcist movie coming out this week. Sorry for asking a question.

You had a better experience than me then. All through the damn movie. Flapping gums and cackling and generally being annoying.

Really took me out of it

ETA: sorry I was at exorcist believer

You know you could have just typed yes instead of trying your hardest to sound like the biggest jackass on this board.

I mean…there’s a current movie called The Exorcist - Believer. I figure 9/10 people reading your post would assume that this is the one you were referring to over a movie originally released 50 freaking year ago.

I saw it in theaters when they rereleased it back in 2000. It was fricking intense.

Have you ever seen the movie?

Because this exact point is addressed in the film. Mom is a wealthy actress who is an atheist, and her entire circle is basically the 'enlightened liberals' group who believes religion is ignorant superstition. She wants no part of any God, Devil or anything of the sort.
The problem for her in the film is this- the demon doesn't care or require you to believe in it. And in fact, this mindset makes her family more vulnerable to what ensues.

If you approach it with an open mind or even basic suspension of disbelief, it establishes a terrifying situation. Like the old saying goes- if you choose to be an atheist, you better hope you're right.
