How do you think the Pete Jenkins “hire” went down?

I doubt Brian Kelly woke Sunday morning and said, “man, I’m in a bad way. If only there was an 82 yr old DL coach legend just a few minutes from campus.”
Genuinely curious how Jenkins got the call less than 48 hours after that shite performance.
Someone from outside that coach’s room and staff brought this suggestion to Kelly. So who was it? Woodward, Orgeron,?
The surprising thing is he took the advice of whomever made the rec.

You do know Jenkins was helping in the spring?

When the news first broke on here yesterday, the OP said that Woodward did it. If that's true and Woodward had to override Kelly-not good

Jenkins probably offered. He did it for O, and probably figured why not?

House and Jenkins relationship I believe.

Why would you assume it came from outside?
They didn’t bring Jancek in to be the permanent DL coach. Maybe he asked for help, maybe House suggested it, maybe BK did.

Both House and Lindsey are connected to Pete

At this point, they have taken action to address the problem. Pete Jenkins was there locally in Baton Rouge and available to come in. His resume is undisputed and his wisdom of teaching defense is what they need in James Lindsay’s medical absence.

My guess is that Pete watched the same game we watched and made a call to volunteer to help.

I like to imagine it’s very similar to reaching out to the Wolf in pulp fiction.

Jenkins contacted the staff after the game and offered his services for free.

Despite what some of the few delusional posters want to believe the DL looks like as much shite as the secondary. Wingo has become a non-factor since the first game. Smith doesn’t even look like he belongs in the two deep at Iowa St, let alone a potential 1st round pick. They bulked Jones up so much that he’s become…Ali Gaye. They DL rotation has been curious, at best.
Unlike the secondary though, no position group has had so much unexpected coaching turnover in such a short amount of time. Cain leaves in the middle of Spring practice. Lindsey is hired only to be diagnosed with (apparently) cancer on the eve of camp starting. That left the staff trying to piece things together the best they could. Clearly it’s not working. Some maybe in an effort to create some sort of change they are bringing in an experienced coach to try to help in a very thought situation.
I doubt this is Woodward forcing any sort of change as much as it is Kelly trying to do something to create any sort of passable defense to help save the season (as best they can).

I just glad we are seeing changes happen that will hopefully help out. This is a very good thing.

They went to old folks home before dinner at 3:30 and asked Pete if he wanted to go for a ride. After nap, it was decided he could go.

Why? Of all the things Kelly is known for, staying pat with staff underperforming isn’t one of them.

Either Woodward called Pete or Pete called Woody one of the 2.

Pete probably just told him that he’s coming
