Obviously ridiculously early but losing the #1 player in Louisiana will hurt. 2 of the top 4 also with Wardell Mack

Mack can still flip back but we will see. McKinley seems to definitely be gone.

Colin Simmons was this years Desmond Ricks. LSU lean up until a couple nights before and it feels extremely like we were used as leverage.

We have to do a better job of landing these big 5 star guys like Bama and Georgia if we want to be like them. It all starts on the trail.

We currently sit at 10th in recruiting for 2024 which is Meh. Let’s hope we can turn this ship around and score some flips or maybe even a 5 star like Kobe Black. 2025 setting up nicely however.

Not really. It's only like 10.5 weeks until ESD.

While I agree it’s been somewhat frustrating, #10 class in recruiting is not “meh”

Top 10 is elite and it says a lot about the players we do have committed.

I think Simmons actually liked lsu. Don't think it was a leverage play.

They just gave him crazy money.
Plus he is a mommy's boy. Mom wanted him home.

That was also an opportunity for texas to plant a flag. They weren't ever losing him.

I agree somewhat. There are some really good players in this class. However, having the 10th rated signing class isn't going to win you championships. It's closer to 9-3 every year.

Do you think Ohio State, UGA, Bama fans would be happy with having a rank 10 class?

10th* Sounds like an Auburn or Pre NIL Aggie class.

Top 5 is great, top 3 is an elite class. LSU has been and should be top 5 with occasional top 3

You do realize we’ll eventually get bumped down out of the top 10? We have no big fish ahead of us.

And Desmond Ricks isn’t in the two deep depth chart at Alabama.

Look at the economies of other states. We absolutely should not be top 5.

Got to factor in the transfer portal players now-think BK is saving some spots for the transfer portal

Transfers are just not the answer and doesn’t answer getting consistently beat for big time recruits.

Nil is changing the game. Katrina effect, overall decline of the state,Kelley doesn't talk like us, maybe more reasons. Recruiting is starting to feel different. It's not horrible, but we have to sign our top 5 and 10. We used to sign 2 or 3 5 stars every year. Now it's 0 or 1.

Logan Diggs
Damien Lewis
Jordan Jefferson (DL)
Mekhi Wingo
Joe Burrow
Thad Moss
Jayden Daniels
Greg Brooks

These look like answers to me. Just what question were you asking?

Alabama has about three five star QBs competing for their job. Those three greatly increased their recruiting rankings while we had some lower ranked four stars and Howard. We got Daniels from the portal and destroyed Bama’s recruiting advantage.

I think the right formula in this environment is to sign a good class of 24 or 25, invest heavily in two or three can’t miss guys, like Mason Taylor, Harold Perkins and Whit Weeks, then go to the portal for five or six studs every season.

Eventually, CBK might be able to duplicate what Georgia is doing, but I doubt it. LSU probably does not have the money to do it that way.

I will wait and see what happens with the portal. If they hit on some top notch DL everyone will be a little bit more calm

Not really. If we have another great transfer portal class then it helps our team for the immediate future, sure.

But it doesn't change the fact that whatever we're doing on the HS recruiting trail is not working.

We all know Kelly walked into a shite show so I've leaned on the side of just giving it time.

But when guys like SunBelt Billy who are coming off a sub 500 season can sell recruits on his program more than BK who just won the west, it's concerning.
