I planted 7 ac of Fall Release on Tuesday, got .2” of rain on Wednesday. Drilled it in with a no-till drill. Game cams reporting lots of game movement this week, but the pigs are all over it. I HATE PIGS!!! On the positive side, my fall food plots have done well in the past when unmolested by pigs, even laying in dry powder for a few weeks. Rain comes and they sprout. I’m the eternal optimist.

Worried I have planted some too deep chasing moisture. It seems like that is always the case with me when a rain isn’t expected.
No rain- I’m good
Light .25”-1”- I’m good
Downpour that drops 1”- I might be fricked on some fields.

Good news is that I already have some sprouting that I planted last Sunday, and they will probably be up by Monday or Tuesday. (Green Cover seed)
Crimson clover is already about 1/4-1/2” tall from last year.
Vetch is still going strong and is blooming. Not sure if it Joint Vetch is indeterminate or not. I know I have seen it bloom before, but I can’t remember if it stopped growing or not. Do any of y’all know?

I went ahead and planted everything I had today. Tilled the soil back up and it still had a lot of moisture from the rain this past week.

Compacted it all in really good after. Let’s see if the hogs leave this along and head for the corn I put out elsewhere

Trying to post some pics, but I planted on 10/10, and the soil was moist. Got .2” the next day. Seeds germinated and almost 1” on 10/26 and 10/27. Things are looking pretty good.
