Really appreciate the response.

When we had it, it was the original engine. We pulled it and rebuilt it with new gaskets and hoses after cleaning it. Added an aftermarket exhaust system to it and new headers. Last thing I did was put a custom box and CD player in the "trunk" behind the seats with a remote control. It was an impractical car by all measures but I loved it. The lines were just perfect in my opinion. I washed that thing almost daily as an 18 year old, I thought I was the sh*t.

If memory serves we sold it in 2003 and threw out the paperwork years ago. Who knows what was done in between. I like to think this was our old one, but who knows. Just wish I could know for sure.

Glad to help. I checked the Corvette Registry with VIN and it wasn't listed and as you said, there is no telling what has been done to it. Some of these cars have changed many hands since new and when the build records at St Louis were destroyed, it makes it very difficult to confirm what options were actually on these cars without original owner documentation. We both know that (Tuxedo) Black was not available in 71, so who knows?!
Again, I hope someone can help you out. I'm curious too!
