I hear ya. But States offense is bad bad

Fair. But it was only a few years ago that Bo Pelini’s defense made some pretty bad offenses look all-world. There’s something to be said for a defense doing exactly what they’re supposed to do.

Pelini played with a prehistoric playbook and mindset. Air raid torched us easily. Put any other DC in there and we win every time.

This. It wasn’t a sloppy defensive performance (outside of garbage time) where we won because State just couldn’t execute on offense. The defense took everything away and dominated them. Any time you dominate an SEC team on the road it’s a good sign.

The other positives going forward are:

- Harris is looking like a legit starting SEC CB and that’s a big help to the secondary. It’s also a huge change over what we could play vs FSU.

- Perkins is now in a more comfortable position and role and is back to causing issues for the QB. That’s huge.

- Whit Weeks looked legit and brings speed and instincts we need at ILB. We also need depth there if Perkins isn’t playing inside anymore, so Weeks being ready to go now is big.

- Lots of young guys got a lot of time the last two weeks. Thats important when one of your OOC games is a tough one like FSU. And even if we get a solid lead vs Army, their style tends to shorten the game.

Get Brooks and Speights back, continue to develop the young guys and stay healthy and this defense should continue to improve.
