Out of curiosity - is it about the same percentage bycatch by a troller vs a pogie boat ?
Higher for pogey boats. Trawls have bycatch reduction devices to try to cut down on other species getting caught in the nets. Pogey nets indiscriminately catch everything and by the time the nets get pulled out of the water, everything that got caught in the net has already died of suffocation.

I just checked the AIS and there are 19 F/V's between South Marsh Island and Sabine Pass...all of them are a few miles from the coast....you can also look at Flightaware and see the planes that are taking off from Abbeville and Patterson and look at their routes..... flying over the the boats spotting the fish

Omega Protein and Ocean Harvesters are the main culprits, a few boats from Plaquemines Parish Port and Pascagoula.
