I'm a big Les Miles fan, but if we go 7-6 next year (and I'm pretty sure that's how the '08 season will end), the only acceptable reason will be season-ending injuries to 90% of our starters. I'm thinking we go 8-4 or 9-3 in '09 and come back to contend for an SEC West title in 2010. I think the hot seat for Miles needs to be stoked a little earlier than for some other coaches for the following reasons:

• No reason for our program to fall so far so fast; we ain't Miss. St or Vandy
• Miles' salary: for $4 mil a year you expect a helluva lot more than back-to-back mediocre seasons

Miles has my support, but obviously we need to see pretty visible evidence of change in the offseason. Then (for me) a minimum 8-4 finish next year with visible improvement on both sides of the ball—coaching, execution, the whole thing. We'll see.

How can you still be a Miles Maniac when the man will absolutely not admit that he and his staff have any responsibility in the pathetic product they have put on the field.

Until he fires some defensive coachs and restores discipline to the team, I have no faith in him. Without serious major changes recruiting will be affected.

There better be a lot of improvement, and I think 8-4 is the absolute worst he can do and not get fired. Though, with Bama and Ole Miss being good now and going to Georgia, the road schedule is not going to be easy.

Katy Tiger:

I think Les took a very talented team and just put things in reverse. He not only didn't help, he actually destroyed most of the teams morall and faith in themselves with his poor coaching. I think the defensive side of the ball is worse than J. Lee and the offense. J. Lee definetly had his problems and he has never shown he can stop making the same ole mistakes, and I think Les stayed with him far too long for the good of the team. The Defense couldn't stop the run, cover anybody, and always looked confused. In my estimation, there was really no coaching or teaching on the defensive side, and Les has lost touch with the former dominating defense LSU has been known for. Because of the soft defense and conservative (playing not to lose mentality) approach he has taken the fight out of this team as they are all frustrated and discouraged because of poor game plans and adjustments. Going with the Co-DC deal was just a horrindeous decision in the first place.

This is the first year Les has really had to show if he can coach, and I think he failed miseribly in every facet. So, my opinion is that if he does not make some changes and a of good hires to that staff, we may be looking like the Gerry Dinardo days again. Maybe we should thank Nick Saban a lot more than we do for what he did for LSU.

I wouldn't be surprised to see LSU lose some commitments after what they have seen from the LSU Staff. There will most probably be some rethinking by many of these recruits.
