Running lanes would open up if we played the player who knows the position and is able to make all the throws

3rd down defense was worse than that. I think FSU's receivers dropped at least 3 passes that would have gotten them a 1st. That defense of rushing 3 and giving the QB time to throw is asinine as hell.

The problem is that Kelly isn’t going to change that. He said it already

Maybe that is the reason LSU fans staid home. More comfortable sleeping in their recliner in front of the TV than watching the same team as last season.

What’s also baffling is that both Denbrock and CBK mentioned this specific issue as a point of emphasis in the offseason and a change to WR routes. Appears to have never made it into actual game implementation.

Yeah, and I said it before that. He CAN’T change it. Perkins isn’t here because he loves LSU. He’s here because we paid him well and convinced him we could develop him. Make him strictly a rush LB and he will quit and line up for Texas A&M or Texas.

This was more on JD than Thomas, unacceptable that the ball was underthrown and at his knees when the closest defender to him was 5-10 yards away

I'd prefer properly leading a WR, but you NEED to catch the ball when you're wide open and it comes to you.

You can't bitch about YAC, when you don't make uncontested catches.

To the people who keep screaming to put Nuss in- say he's hitting guys in stride, and they still keep dropping it. Are you thinking the refs give us a first down on style points? Because they don't.
And if you pull the one running threat out of the game (because the backs weren't doing anything behind that line), are you that sure Nuss gets even the pocket Daniels gets? I'm not sold on that. If I'm Fla State, I'm not scared of Nuss breaking contain and gaining chunks, so I'd dial it up even more, to force wild throws. He's shown that he does that at times.

I'm afraid Kelly is right, we aren't the team we thought we were. And we're at least another year away from challenging at the highest level. We don't have the guys on defense to stick with Fla State right now, and don't have the push up front to assert our will on the ground against them.
The best thing we can hope for is this: that's the only team on the schedule that outmatches us in talent, and we can smooth out the procedural errors as the season goes along.

then why didn't our $100 million coach fix them during fall camp?

Our coaching staff had all of spring practice and fall camp to assess what talent we have, and how to scheme based on that. None of this should've been a mystery to our staff.

Why wait until after getting embarrassed by FSU to identify and fix the problems?

More of a WR limitation because this was one was in stride. But if JD is lackluster against Miss State then I need to see Nuss. I defended JD all off season but sometimes you need a chang

JD is maxed out as a 5th year, 2nd in system guy. You have to start wondering if the drops are more to do with a lack of confidence they have in JD.
