If you are talking about replacing the whole interior evaporator unit (coil, fan, heat exchanger, etc.) that sounds reasonable depending on size, brand, and accessibility.
If you have a leaking coil and are talking about simply replacing the coil within the evaporator unit, then that sounds a little high to me.

I just had my reap coil and air handler replaced for 6K. It was going to be 4K for just evap coil (it was leaking).
