I've been wanting a PS after using the BIL's dewalt last year. Saw this deal pop up and you can pick from about a dozen other tools as your gift. I made mine the 3x19 belt sander, which is also brushless.

I cut many limbs with mine during Ida, no complains. Battery last forever

Thanks for posting.
As tempting as that is, the thought of uet another charging station on my bench gives me pause.
I don't own any other Kobalt tools, but that angled impact is something I could use.
Sale runs until the 18th.

The 40v PS, blower and hedge trimmer work great, the weed wacker is for shite though.

I started with the Kobalt 24v weed eater and blower combo, have added this pole saw, hedge trimmer, impact, and drill. No complaints with any of them.

I see there’s also a 40v model. Is the 24v sufficient for light duty around the house? What would be a reason to get a 40v instead?

Absolutely. My yard is just under 2000 sqft, 24v lasts 3 weeks give or take for the blower and weed eater. Batteries are cross compatible with power tools too, which is why I went 24v.

I got this earlier this year and it works we'll too. Don't mind that it's corded since I have a 100 ft extension cord

I have the Kobalt 80 volt pole saw, chain saw, hedge-clipper, and blower. One battery for them all, and they've worked great for several years (except the pole saw which I've had just one year).
The pole saw keeps you off of ladders, so it pays for itself in reduced medical bills.

I have the Sun Joe corded pole saw and use just the 10 inch saw only most of the time. Good for cutting fairly large limbs and it is very light.

I have a big 60v Toro chainsaw, and a Ryobi 18v Oneplus polesaw.
I used the Toro to section up a tree (a big tree) that was down in my yard.
The Ryobi has an 8" blade, and I will say this- if it's a limb small enough for that blade (say, 6" diameter), the Ryobi cuts it quick. You put the blade on top of the branch, and the weight pulls it through. I've cleaned up my yard and cut a LOT of stuff with 1 4amp battery, and if I want to chop it into foot-long sections, I've never needed more than 2.
The Ryobi has 2 poles, so you can get a lot of reach using both, or you just use the battery and blade attachment to give you a small (but relatively long) chainsaw. I assume the Kobalt has the same setup.
That's a good price, but if you're invested in 18/20v tools (Ryobi, Dewalt etc), I'd say stay in the ecosystem.

Got mine the other day and it does cut quick, as quick as the BIL's dewalt. I'd say be careful what bar oil you use, home depot carried some bar oil that pours very viscous and hasn't fed through either the EGO i bought this year or now this pole saw. I poured it directly on the chain (on both saws) just to test them out.

Got the 40v model with extra battery. Can go 6 hours on both batts trimming shooting lanes before they run out. If you're around the house only, I would get the 20v model at that price. Very happy with mine. Use petro grade thread tape on the chain oil cap bc it seeps out regardless of how tight it is.
