Short-term rental as in.. Like a B&B? I know someone who bought a house in NO months before they put restrictions and his house ended up being an area where he could only list it as a B&B during certain times of year (which went form like August to March so the busiest time in NO he couldn't list it as a B&B), but he ended up still renting it out a good bit through word of mouth.
Do they do this to protect the hotels or something?

And “affordable housing” issues. Can’t have all the out of towers pouring money into a shitty city to run the shitty residents out……

I'll get downvoted for this, but I don't like the idea of STRs in New Orleans (at least in neighborhoods). A coworker of mine lives in the Garden District and a few years ago, somebody turned their neighbors house into a AirBNB. It then just turned into having drunk, loud tourist throwing parties in it. It got so bad the neighbors actually got the city to do something to stop it.
New Orleans has plenty of hotel rooms, why do they need to rent out houses as well?
