I suspect that some clown from Sulphur and I have very different ideas about what a lot of money is. Based on this from you, we definitely do:

I never said he was a bad kid. I said he’s not unique in his hardships and anyone that pretends he is is part of the problem. You’re an enabler and not helping.

I tend to agree with you here.
No one is saying he hasn’t dealt with tough circumstances, and they might have very well distracted his focus, but at which point do you ignore the advantage of your opportunity and let it all slip away.
This kid has all the resources in the world at his finger tips. Some are forced and others were probably being thrown at him to support him through any adversity. Tutors, Counselors, Coaches, Mentors, etc.
Eventually you have to help yourself. I truly believe school isn’t for him, and he doesn’t apply himself enough as needed to compensate for the void in his educational ability and resources basically trying to pass him. And it’s not that big of a void.
I might be wrong, but there are 80 other players that figure it out. Other students lose family members and don’t have the same resources, but figure it out.
Enough with the coddling. He’s a grown man, figure it out. The choice is his, not ours, and definitely not sympathy’s.
