If it’s online then why does it have to be on the north shore?

I've used mobile notaries before but have never heard of online. How does that work?

Make sure what you need notarized can be done online.

I've been to several seminars where this has been discussed and there is a lot of confusion out there.

Yea. How does that work? The whole point is that the notary certifies the signature by witnessing it and you providing proof of who you are.

You turn on you computer camera and they say.. “yea.. you look like a Steve”?

It’s technically legal as of a couple of years ago, but it’s a giant pain in the arse that that isn’t worth the aggravation outside of insanely niche applications and should be avoided if at all possible.

Did an online notary today. First one didn’t bother to show for the zoom call.

You load up your ID, then it goes to a zoom call. They ask you to show the document unsigned, point out where you will sign, then you sign on camera. Scan, send to them and they return a notarized copy back to you.

In my line of work I have to have an original signed and stamped documents from a notary......I can use use a scanned version as a temp, but I usually have to overnight originals, with original signatures and original notary seals on all recorded documents

Follow this link to Secretary of State and click remote notaries. This is legal in Louisiana now. They will likely want you to use zoom. There is a method to do it through email but I couldn’t find a notary that was familiar with that method. And even the ones that will pop up on this list may not be familiar with the process, but they can do. You just need to call and speak with them ahead of time.

Thanks for the replies OP. Reason I am asking is I was gifted a utility trailer from a family member out of state a few years ago and am now moving and don’t want to take it with me. Never had title switched over to me in Louisiana. The trailer is still titled in other state and I’m trying to avoid having them have to come down here to transfer title.what I’m asking may not be possible just exploring options.

Thankfully I didn’t need the original for this purpose because I am in Dubai at the moment and there wasn’t enough time for me to ship the original to the states.

The remote notary does not have to be in Louisiana. You can use a notary from any state which allows remote notarization.

Remote notarizations works great for simple affidavits, verifications and acknowledgments but are not allowed for other documents such as a testament.

You can get any online notary in the country to notarize it. Will be perfectly valid in your state under the full faith and credit clause of the US Constitution. www.notarize.com
