To a fault LSU is exactly the same school it was 20 years ago

Pretty much my thoughts. Didn't expect much from him, but I'm pleasantly surprised that he's doing a decent job. He's God compared to frick King.

The fact I haven't really heard too much means he's doing a pretty good job. He's been vocal about security around the perimeter of the campus. Seems to genuinely care about student life. Wish he would call off the dogs on the war against Greek life.

Pleasantly surprised but he has to either replace the main library and get rid of the pipe on TS before I am impressed.

Did he appoint minority candidates for the Dean of LSU LAW SCHOOL and the President of LSUS?

Really stepped up the diversity game and is doing something about white supremacy rather than just talking about it.

Only reason he will get positive reviews is because for he recent success of the athletics programs to many on here since that is all they care about. At the actual academic level, he has t really done anything significantly positive to improve the university and has been a disappointment in that point, but I don’t think many expected much anyhow.

Not being completely CRT magically makes him not bad to some.

The guy's beliefs and writings cant be undone imo

We need to realize, his "beliefs" are what we were told they were by the media. I am not going to do the same thing they did and ignore those beliefs, so yes, race and race relations are a big part of his political beliefs, and his politics were in the spotlight when he was hired.

What they failed to tell us and chose to keep out of the narrative was he was raised Catholic, has been a keynote speaker at Veritas Forums (a group which promotes Christianity on college campuses) and is married to a Christian gospel singer who is very open on social media about her Christianity and is arguablly more "famous" than he is.

I don't care for his politics, but I can find no evidence of him pushing a liberal agenda, and has been about as moderate as any college president of a public university can be in this day and age.

I have a positive opinion of him. His greatest quote - "We are going to have more "ships" than the US Navy.
My president.

He had nothing to do with this. Law School is separate from the university.

Can't speak to this.

Well, this years incoming Freshman class is the highest ranked (GPA, ACT, Valedictorians) LSU has ever had.

How do you find that sort of data?

LSU listed the initial candidates for the opening, and Tate wasn't among them. When they announced they had trimmed the list to a smaller, 2nd round group, Tate still wasn't a candidate. When they listed the three finalists for the position, Tate's name finally surfaces.. The rumor is that someone on the board really wanted Tate to apply, so they added him to the finalists (3rd round list) after he missed applying initially. I mean, that says it right there that they already had their man and the review process to choose a new President was just window-dressing to the give the appearance of a fair selection process.

No, that is not what happened. The newspaper made a mistake in its reporting, that's all. I had a personal friend on the search committee and they said Tate's interview was head and shoulders above pretty much everyone. He did not skip the interview process. The paper just left his name out of the story.
