I would take Cannon off this list as a RB. He was a great all around player, but as a RB there is about 10 others I would put on before him.
He was the best all-around player in LSU history. He played both ways and made the goal line tackle to save the Ole Miss game AFTER he had made his famous punt return. Imo, he is also the best RB in LSU history, as he would've had even better stats if not for playing both ways, and is (obviously) the only RB at LSU to win the Heisman.
The term is way over-used, but he truly had track star speed and had the build to play in any era. He is RB1 on any LSU list.
EDIT to add
2 time SEC Player of the Year
2 time consensus All-American

So, go back to how I had it

No arguments that he was a great all-around player but if you are picking the best players at a specific position there have been numerous other LSU RB's that were better than Cannon. His goal line stand was a great play but that doesn't have to do with anything about his RB play. As a RB he averaged about 50 yards per game, 686 yards rushing was his best year. 19 Total TD's in 3 years as a starter. Great all around player maybe the best, but not a top tier LSU RB.
