Miles was an Idiot. Think about the 2011 NCG and the number of guys on offense who were on the team and did not play quality time. On a night that your offense looked like Dog shite. OBJ, Landy, Mettenburger. With a month to prepare.

Absolute insanity. The amount of talent he had. He should have managed two titles, minimum.

His head coach was a skill position player killer.
His head coach was completely unimaginative.
His head coach was terrible.

He was not the best passer. But to think in an era of Jordan Jefferson we couldn’t find a single pass play for him? Or that we didn’t know what he was as a passer coming out of HS? Or that we couldn’t coach him up enough to be able to competently execute a single pass play in 4 years? Or that our coaching staff or systems were not able to incorporate a single cut, upfield straight line speed type?

These are all questions of a rhetorical nature. Shepard was recruited well and never complained and never got in trouble that I can recall. But he was grossly misused by one of the most inept coaches to ever seen stalk a sideline at LSU.

If we are being brutally honest, Shep was never going to be a FT QB. Neither was or is Taysom Hill of the Saints. He’s not a starter at any position. But a weapon you have to scheme for. Which is what competent coaching can do for an Uber talented but not starting caliber quality talent at a high level of football.

Les Miles held our program and a litany of kids back from achieving their maximum potential and our maximum ceiling for success as a football team. For years.

Thanks for the memories. But good riddance.

I wish all the best to Shep…
