But what I don't understand is if Shepard was not a good thrower how did they not realize this when they recruited him? Was he just not developed or was he just all fools gold? I have to believe if he went to another school in a better system he wouldn't' be as bad as we think.

I think they did, but Les promising he'd be given a shot at QB was the only way to sign him. We star-chased quite a bit and he was the #1 recruit in the country in his class
