I think this team is better at the beginning of season than 2019
Not sure where all the hate is coming from. Going INTO 2019, we weren't all that hyped on what we had. There was one guy who was predicting Burrow would go off and win the Heisman, and we all laughed at him. Rest of offense, we liked Jefferson but thought he was 'okay', not great. Nobody knew what Chase and Marshall would be, Marshall was actually expected to be the bigger name. Nobody felt like Helaire was going to be the primary back, kinda expected him to be a 3rd down guy.
Defense, you did have Delpit returning, but lost Devin White.
Going into this season-
Daniels is getting more love than Burrow did. He's already on the Heisman watchlist, Burrow wasn't.
Nabers has at least as much hype as Jefferson did, probably more.
Oline going into the season, definitely 2023 over 2019. We're bragging about it already, nobody did that going into 19.
Perkins is getting as much attention and praise as any defender going into 2019, Delpit included. Wingo is very respected and lots think Maason Smith will be great. There WAS a lot of chatter about Stingley, I don't think we have a DB this year with that much love prior to ever seeing him on the field.
Teams are in a similar spot to start, and I think preseason expectations are maybe higher for this team. 2019 just happened to have the perfect season... which nobody thought would happen.
