The problem with the OP's "invention" is it blocks the upward movement of the hot exhaust air which gets recirculated through the condenser coil
Beat me to it. Pretty much a useless endeavor.
Would do better to set up one or two of those mister machines like you see on the sidelines of football games when it's hot. Draw the cool mist over the coils.

You should put it in a big Yeti.
Obviously. But at that price point, it’d be cheaper to buy another A/C unit.

If AC units were meant to be covered, they would come with a shade cover.
You are re-circulating the exhaust heat back into the unit therefore making your unit work harder.

Also why is that not an LSU popup tent?

Keep the hot air trapped. Great idea. Also, I saw this pic online.

My son Braxton helped me. I will make sure to have Braxton tell his brother Jaxton to put out the yeti cooler for the neighbors

Is that thing tied down?

There are actually commercial products sold to mist AC condensers. They work, they kinda have to unless one's A/C is breaking the laws of thermodynamics. The caveat is unless you filter the water really well (RO and/or DI filter) you will get mineral buildup on the coils and fins which over time will reduce not only the airflow (reducing the amount of active convection) but also the thermal transfer coefficient (calcium et al don't transfer heat as well as aluminum).
