I think there's a strong argument to be made for this era in gaming.

I might say that the PS2/Xbox era was better, but I think there are two things holding it back. For one, while there were a lot more games being released, a lot of them were crap. The 360/PS3 era still saw a decent number of games released even if there weren't as many as in the previous era. Quality, on the whole, was also better. The PS2/Xbox era had some absolute classics, but a lot of those games have not aged well at all. Game design sort of peaked during the 360/PS3 era, so most games from that generation have aged a lot better.
