From memory somewhere between 35% and 50% of our serious injuries were caused by IEDs. If you were in country you travelled on the roads, especially if you were going to FOBs, and if you travelled on the roads you were at risk.
I know two people with enough metal in them to qualify as part terminator. One was an 11B and he wasn't injured in a firefight, he was injured when a Russian morter turned IED turned his humvee into a tiddly wink. The other was AF in a Red Horse unit; he was essentially a military plumber who got ambushed going from A to B. He'd love for you to explain how he wasn't in any danger.

Yeah! I know an Army Finance guy that got deployed to Kuwait.
The seals were a man short one night and they had noticed his marvelous 50 YO physique - so they got him to go on a top secret super dangerous mission.
A sniper hit him in the shoulder and knocked his whole arm off.
Being the guy that he is he just put it back on right there - didn't even leave a scar.
I was 11C.

However, servicemen were still getting killed or permanently disabled while Trump was still President. So you should be asking him instead.

Not much, but I'm not sure what that has to do with small people trying to denigrate someone's service. A reasonable person should be able to admit that military service is a positive checkmark for someone wanting to be the CIC; it doesn't mean they have to vote for him. It's not the only thing that matters by a long shot, but why try to shite on it?
