we don’t live anywhere near Houston city limits. And the school district my children will attend, is as good, if not better than any school district within 100 miles of New Orleans. And we chose to start careers in Houston rather than Louisiana, because the salaries are significantly higher and the cost of living isn’t. fairly simple. Why would you hold a job in New Orleans when you could get a job anywhere else? and you could call Houston a lot of things, but the word “ugly” in comparison to New Orleans is laughable

I’m not defending New Orleans. I’m trying to understand why Houston is such an attraction. Was Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, and anywhere else full? Houston is nothing but suburban sprawl with no topography or anything pretty to look at. You never hear about anyone vacationing in Houston. There’s a reason for that.

All I remember about that area was when my job sent me to deliver in the New Orleans East area right after the covid lockdowns, I saw a homeless dude eating another homeless dude booty out in broad daylight

What the hell does NOLA East have to do with anything here?

Are 8th grades a big thing in NOLA? Most BR high schools don’t have them or at least don’t have large ones.

Most kids just go from 7th to 9th. Sort of like how tall buildings don’t have a 13th floor.

That school is dumb as hell if they’re not proud of producing a Supreme Court justice.

Cheating, there’s always way to cheat. She just mentioned at graduation to me as some of the honors were called. She wasn’t bitter, she graduated with a solid B avg., but had for work for it. By 12th grade she was over it. There was drugs, drinking, I think one pregnancy. I guess I was naive thinking there wasn’t this stuff happening at the pricey catholic schools. My other daughter left her school and went to public (Metairie) for maybe one semester and ran back. She couldn’t tolerate what was going on at the public school with the blatant drugs and drinking, lots of trashy girls, etc. Same seemed to be happening at DHS minus the trashy living, just on the down low.

The first real vacation I ever went on was to Houston. I was 7 years old and we went to Astroworld, an Astros game and an Oilers preseason game. I had a good time

They all basically cost the same, lol. What a stupid fricking statement.

I think I knew 1 girl who went to Cabrini. Pretty crazy considering I knew so many girls at all of the other schools. I knew more girls at Blenk and immaculata and I couldn’t even tell you where those schools were

I would send my girls to mc ghee, sacred heart and newman before Dominican. I would also consider country day and st martins in jeff parish before Dominican.

So one catholic school. Maybe people still value a catholic school education?

nah, I’ve probably only been to the westbank like 25 times in my life, hence why i didn’t know where the schools were even located. Makes it all the weirder that I knew more girls from that school.

Cabrini girls were just never around

there's also controversy over Supreme Court justice Amy Coney Barrett, who went there, with debate over how the school should be honoring her.
