Exactly. And his wife was a glorified secretary.

Plus they took care of Frank Costanza after Estelle died.

I heard they got paid well.
This good looking young woman has delivered to my house couple times lately. She’s about a OT 8,I wouldn’t want my wife or daughter delivering in a rural parish like where I live.

Usually the long haul guys were already package truck drivers that moved up with seniority. It’s not a bad job at all, even the warehouse loaders, preloaders, and pickers get paid well hourly with full medical benefits.

Ask her how much it’ll cost you for her to handle your package.

Maybe when no one else is home.

My neighbor was a driver over 25 years ago and even back then he was doing surprisingly well.

How many OT'ers drive for UPS?

I actually considered doing it probably about 15 years ago or so, but then I was informed that the bulk of my salary would have to be docked to pay union membership fees. I promptly withdrew my name from consideration.

Also, their vehicles were all manual transmission, which was kind of annoying to deal with while you're busy trying to multi-task by keeping your eyes on the road, and also at the same time on the list of houses to deliver to, while also looking at the houses themselves for their address numbers to deliver the parcel to. Might be a little easier to handle these days with the assistance of a GPS device that automatically tells you when to stop though...

They start at $20 an hour once becoming a driver. After 4 years, they make $30 an hour, unless they are switched over to a Regular contract driver, which they would make around $40 an hour after 4 years

They just had a strike and a new regulation where you start out at 100 k plus benefits

Haven’t looked but this is likely the 18 wheeler drivers not the guys running around your neighborhood

This is propaganda btw. That's working well over 40 hours a week at the top end of the UPS pay scale and also includes value of benefits in the number. So the very top end drivers working the most hours are making like 100-110 in salary and the new fellas and average workers are far below this.

Still good money, but a misleading headline.

Very much so. This morning, yahoo had a story that headlined "Trump would prefer live in another country", including statements within the story that said "...Trump's continuous hatred toward America and Americans" and "Trump's actions obviously prove he's not a patriot and hates America", while crediting Joe Biden with raising the salary at UPS and boosting the economy. F*ck yahoo!!!

isnt this every profession?

Then factor in professions that take a shite load more schooling, by the time you are out, that driver has several years of experience and making bank.

I feel like there are people that need to know these things and not go fail out of college with student loans. And we should stop looking down on these professions.

No they don't. They make ok money yes but they don't make bank. If they do, they are never ever at home.

average salary for ups driver is about 50k. sensational story headline.

this is for long haul drivers, not your random dude in brown suit tossing your expensive package 10 feet to the door.

FYI Yahoo is just a news aggregator. The article including the headline came from another source.

Yeah, but they're working their arse off too, especially in the winter. Working 12+ hour days before Christmas. The summer is miserable down here in the south with no AC.

I remember back in the late 1990s when UPS went public. Before that, all UPS stock was held by current and retired UPS workers. From what I understand a good number of the guys driving for them at that time made a shite ton of money.

That’s including all the benefits monetized. Ask HR what your full benefit package is worth and they’ll show you a crazy number

That baw don’t work at a place with HR and benefits. I’ve tried to explain to people before the difference between what the man pays you and what it costs the man to employ you. The term-fully wrapped is just good birth control to most.
