Maybe you could give insight as to what it was before?

They take into account other predictions from other recruiting services. For example, when Wiltfong put in a prediction for Simmons to LSU on 247, On3 then changed LSUs RPM. The reason why it changed is probably due to one of the Texas insiders predicting McKinley to Texas on 247. Also might be smoke on Texas.

You do whatever you have to do to get McKinley. Texas signing Arch and Derek Williams last year along with possibly getting Mack and McKinley this year are bad optics.

He may commit elsewhere but BK is going to make damn sure he gets 10/10 in Louisiana this year. If I was Texas I would be very worried if he committed there and actually signs with them.

This board is so obsessed with Texas endowment and don't realize how rich LSU is in throwing money around in recruiting too. Not just football but all sports. The way this board talks you would think Texas scrubs the ground with the nation every year in recruiting. Why are they getting destroyed in their own state right now?

Going to be hard for guys like McKinley and Mack not to get on the BK train when LSU makes it a third NC in the same year for their athletics.

Much of Texas's confidence has to be based on the evidence that Simmons is indeed going to LSU and their consequent desperation to get a big fish and knowing they will throw even bigger bags to reel in McKinley coupled with the health issue with Lindsey and little public reaction from McKinley after the Splash... all speculation.

Texas endowment

Texas’ endowment has nothing to do with football or any sports. The endowment doesn’t fund athletics and is primarily from value attributed to their land holdings, which they lease to large oil and gas companies.

It’s the $$$ their donors have to contribute to their collectives or to NIL directly (whether through their companies or otherwise). They simply have more high net worth individuals in their network, so if they WANT to spend, they can find a way to do that… but these guys are savvy business professionals. They’re not going to get out of control for a single player or players outside of the market Norms, a La whatever the hell Florida was thinking with Jaden Rashada.

TLDR - if they want to drop a bag, they can. But I think the conversation is a little overblown given the absolute dollars for players and each university having wealthy donors of their own… just my 2 cents.

People love to throw the endowment narrative around for Texas and Gay&M like that isn’t their rivalry dick measuring contest and just money sitting in a bank account.

The reality of the situation is that very few schools have a guy like Gordon McKernan whose business is making an absolute fortune AND he has the ability to justify massive NIL spending as an advertisement expense. The “Texas oil money” thing is funny to me because small oil companies in Texas aren’t dumping a ton of money into NIL because they can’t really justify it.

If Texas and Texas A&M had as much money as they pretend to have they’d be on par with Alabama and Georgia in recruiting and wouldn’t both be dog shite on the field consistently. We’ve been buying elite recruits for a long time and will continue to do so

That's the point I'm making. LSU isn't poor and LSU has been cleaning out the portal in their athletics alongside recruiting. They're probably a top 3 university in it among athletics right now.

If you think LSU is just going to lay down and let Texas come in to drop money bags on Louisiana recruits to steal who they want you're pretty ignorant. They're going to target who they have highest on their board. They stole Williams last year but LSU gained elsewhere. I'm not convinced BK and staff was high on Manning. He was overrated which should be pretty clear to anyone who follows recruiting. Manning was not even the best QB in the state last year.

Football is LSU's money sport. They will spend whatever it takes to stay at the top. I can about promise this though, if McKinely and Mack ended up leaving LSU will find someone on par or close to them as a replacement. Whether it's in the portal or recruiting. Their money will just go to someone else. LSU's expectations are compete for a NC. Texas expectations are not to suck like they have been since Vince Young.

Just my opinion here again... but dollars to donuts, if the money is even or close, and I'm a recruit, I'm picking Bama or UGA over UT or aTm 10/10 times.

The player development + ability to put guys into the league is far superior and depending on where you want to live long-term, the network could be just as good, if not stronger. (and if you want to end up in a place like the Northeast or Pacific Northwest, all 4 schools are totally irrelevant network-wise).

Perfect example of the $$$ conversation (though a little different) is Kadyn Proctor last cycle... he even openly said Iowa was offering more NIL but he was happy with the offer at Bama and was looking forward to what school gave him the best chance to make the NFL.

That said, I hate giving any of those 4 teams any amount of credit, but if Bama and UGA can keep the dollars comparable, there's no debating where a kid SHOULD go (outside of 10,000 other factors of course).
