All the more reason to use a rifle that will result in either a DRT or blood trail. Buckshot or slugs at 50-60 yd may not get a pass through and now you’re climbing around and over treetops looking for a deer that ran off 60-120yd with no blood trail.
If that’s the only gun you have then it will work but it’s not the best choice for that application.
If I was gonna put together a gun for just that it would be either a lever gun or short barreled rifle with either a lpvo scope or red dot.
