Nah. Depends on skill level and why you're playing.

If tracking handicap or playing for cash, yes absolutely.

Otherwise, rule #1 in golf (or any other sport) is to have fun. If you are too pretentious to enjoy a round or play in a foursome with someone just out to enjoy the game (while maintaining pace of play), then you're likely a miserable human and detrimental to the game of golf despite your lofty thoughts about yourself.
