Sleeping on the Capital grounds, Lincoln NE

quote:

During the Great Depression Nebraskans became accustomed to living under trying conditions. People had to cope not only with hard economic times but with the intense heat accompanied by a drought that plagued this state and much of the rest of the country.

The relentless heat was hard on everyone who suffered through the summer of 1936. The heatwave started in late June when temperatures across the United States exceeded 100 degrees. Temperatures reached record levels in July.

On July 25, 1936, the Lincoln Journal Star’s banner headline said it all: “Mercury 114; Breaks Record Here.” The Star reported: “The merciless heat followed the hottest night in all Lincoln history. The lowest temperature of the dark hours was 91.”

Many people suffered from heatstroke and heat exhaustion, particularly the elderly. In the era before air-conditioning and public swimming pools, most people could rely only on fans and blocks of ice for some degree of cooling. Some could swim in lakes and rivers, and cities opened fire hydrants. Many slept outdoors.

I was told by a local weatherwoman that a 118 degree day last week tied for the hottest temp in Phoenix. I remember 30+ years ago a 122 temperature, and having to shut Sky Harbor down because the tables pilots use to calculate speed/lift only went to 120 degrees.

She also said it was highly unusual for it to be 100 degrees last at night. It's not.

This is great. Gateway Pundit is using Tony Heller climate change debunking content.

People should subscribe to Tony Heller's channel on YouTube. He destroys climate change propaganda almost everyday. His website is realclimatescience.com.

That's a Q-Anon linked conspiracy theory.

They can call it whatever the hell they want to, global warming, climate change, or earth gender transition.

You just go along with it.

There are a few things about your post that do not disprove the claim that this is the hottest July on record, globally.

First, you're just showing North America.

Second, you're just showing high temps.

If over time the high temp stays exactly the same, but the low temp keeps climbing, the daily mean temp will rise. Even if the high is falling, if the low is climbing faster, the daily mean temp still rises. And it's all about the daily mean temp.

Showing these overly simplistic graphics trying to disprove global warming is just as stupid as when people produce overly simplistic graphics trying to prove global warming.

Hottest temp in Memphis was 108 in 1980.

Hottest temp in New Orleans was 102 in 1980 and 1939.

It was hotter 45 years ago long before “global warming”.

But but but the feel like temperature!

It can be the real temperature is 88 degrees but the feels like temperature is 106 so it’s a 106 day today!

Thought the claim was about the global average temps? What does that have to do with specific locations?
