For the younger fans on this site, it can’t be overstated how much the game has changed. Today’s game is very exciting, and every player mentioned so far was a great player, but the change for 1958 to today is profound. It used to be a test of strength and endurance. It still is today, but back then the same eleven players, would stay on the field for the entire game. My first real memories started in the mid to late sixties. I remember the first team I played on ran the single wing offense. There was the “T” and then the wishbone. I have been so blessed to witness, the evolution of the game. So it is true that players may not have possessed certain skills in one era or another, but they were big time in the era they played in

I'm not debating that being true whatsoever. I'm comparing Title to his peers at the time. He wasn't in the top 3 of AA voting his last year so compared to his contemporaries he wasn't as good. So I fail to see how we can say he was our 8th best player of all time. That's why I brought up Bert Jones: based on accolades earned vs peers he is the 2nd best LSU QB ever and deserves to be higher than Title. It's about the only way you can compare players from different time periods.
