First Trip to Pittsburgh

I like to surprise my girl with a trip to a new city for her birthday so I jumped on cheap plane tickets for the last weekend in September. I'm pretty excited.
She's an interior designer so I rented a Turo to go see Fallingwater. Other things on the schedule include a Pirates game and a bar to watch LSU/Ole Miss.
Does anyone have recommendations for other sights, events or restaurants, where to sit in PNC Park, where to watch the football game, etc?

The pregame tour at PNC park was pretty cool. Worth the $25.
You can also get a tour of acrisure stadium for cheap. Also a good tour.

I went to graduate school in Pittsburgh and loved going to PNC Park, and I don’t even like baseball. If you wanna impress her, try the Grand Concourse Restaurant.

That's looks really cool. Decision now is either dinner or happy hour before the game.

The Pitt campus was a good time. Very nice.
Lots of historic stuff in the city to do.
Duquesne Incline
I would honestly get on IG and do your research there. Nowadays you can find some great spots to hitup that you normally wouldn't find.

Fallingwater is amazing! I'm sure it will be even more beautiful in the fall with the colorful foliage. Also second the Duquesne Incline - it offers a perfect view of the city!

Watched the LSU game at Mike’s Beer Bar across the street from PNC. Fun time with tons of beer options.
It seems weird, but go to the Cathedral of Learning on Pitt’s campus. It looks like Hogwarts and has tons of cultural rooms that are in different styles. If she’s an interior designer, she will probably like that a lot.

Take her up to Mount Washington via one of the inclines and have dinner at an overlook spot like Monterray Fish Groto, Le Mont, Altius, etc.
The Strip district is also another really cool area thats ideal for walking around checking out lots of shopping and resturants. The Terminal is a really cool spot worth checking out in the Strip District.
And of course any sporting events they have going on. Pittsburgh is a phenomenal sports city. If the Penguins are in town (doubtful if youre going to be there for the LSU vs Ole Miss game), def check one out. Pirates and steelers are also prime as well. Lots of activities around the stadium on the Northshore, including Rivers Casino.
Anywhere down the 3rd baseline. The club seats (200s) are slightly more expensive but give you a great view of the city and also have the option to go inside and hit up the bar/pool tables if a storm pops up, which is fairly common
Mario's East Side is a solid bar with lots of TVs a little past downtown (Shadyside) that has more of a local feel. If youre downtown around Market Square, City Works is always a good option as it is a really big sports bar right in the middle of the Market Square. If you're up on Mt Washington, Coughlin's Law is also a really cool spot with great city views and tons of TVs to watch the game.
ETA: Gaucho is a fairly new Argentinian steakhouse downtown near the strip district that is incredible and would also recommend. If youre out and about for lunch they have a phenomenal steak sandwhich thats under $20
Gaucho
Alla Familgia is really solid Italian option up on Mt Washington/Allentown

hell yeah brother, Pittsburgh is an awesome city that is highly under rated. If you are staying around downtown, the city is extremely walkable. It is known as the "City of Bridges" and is extremely pedestrian friendly, just not so much for bikers in certain areas quite yet. Enjoy your time there and if you need any more recs I can reach out to some of my local coworkers who grew up in the area
some local recs:
Condado Tacos Downtown Pittsburgh
Bakersfield Tacos
Nicky's Thai Kitchen
The PA Market
This is a really cool speakeasy type bar in the strip district that I went to last time I was in town that was rec'd by a coworker
Cadence
Incredible fried chicken spot in the strip district
Coop Deville
ETA: Not a fan of Primanti Bros at all, one of the most over rated food items i have ever tried fwiw

Pittsburgh is a really great, underrated tow. Good advice here. I have nothing really to add except that I co-sign this sentiment. Don't bother with Primanti Bros .. people in Pittsburgh love it but its really forgettable.

Bump
The trip is next weekend.
Would you recommend a Pirates game Friday night or a Sunday afternoon game (season finale)?

For either, definitely pregame across the river and walkover to the game on the Roberto Clemente bridge. Very cool park and love the way it’s built into the city.

Definitely Friday night. Views with the sunset over the city are great- this one's from April
Weather's been fantastic here lately btw. Should be a great time
