I don't budget like that. The wife and I have a bi-weekly discretional spending account where we move money in twice a month and thats what we spend on hobbies, shopping, dining out, entertainment, etc.
Larger expenses like travel, new bikes, new golf clubs, etc. are budgeted into monthly expenses when we know we are at a time of year when our normal spending may be down (usually late spring).

So if the hobby started exceeding your budget plan, do you adjust your budget plan or just quit doing what you enjoy and find something else?
