rifle is useless at close range due to scope and it will be dark at that time.
AR will penetrate walls and kill your children or neighbors if you miss.
Shotgun is the only answer.
However, you should just leave your home if someone breaks in and let them have your stuff because you do not want to hurt anyone. If you shoot someone....right or wrong....your life will be messed up forever....and they will take your gun. Cant have that.
