To get meaningful data out of an international comparison, major differences in demographics have to be parsed out. Match subsets in different countries with people of equivalent socio-economic status for example is
a good first step. Big mismatches in demographics seriously confounds any conclusion.
The worst offenders on this kind of study are the gun control organizations.

I have no doubt most of our processed foods are poison. Even simple microwave popcorn. Google it. And the FDA approves it all. Then let’s hop over to GMO foods. See a correlation?

preservatives are a major deal in health decline of americans

Since we're doing correlations: most of these countries have much better urban and suburban environments where people walk/bike and take public transit at a much higher rate than our (mostly) car only city designs.
Oh, and a public healthcare option. But I guess all of that is "unamerican" compared to our endless highway sprawl where you can drive to your preferred fast food no matter where you live and have to abide by your employer's health insurance options that are somehow expensive and ineffective.
It's really not that complicated but as the other poster said: corporate profits and all that.

Its not just quantity. The shite in our food here isn't just unhealthy...it's deadly.
You notice how companies and the exercise more crowwd never address the fact that many American products have to be reformulated to sell overseas because they contain shite. The Ritz cracker in America is not what you get in Europe.
They also won't discuss:
GRAS (Generally recognized as safe) and the sham of and research on the products on this list.
Natural Flavors and what that term really means and the sham of regulation on the use of this term.
Seed Oils and the sham of the pushing them into everything while pushing out actual healthy fats like tallow and lard.
The sham of the USDA recommendations and how it has pushed shite food across America and into programs like WIC, school lunches, food served by armed forces etc. Everywhere that gets Gov. $$
How "Health Organizations" like AHA, ADA that people look to for recommendations were selling their approval to brands like Lucky Charms. Yeah that's heart healthy.
The list goes on and I won't even go into the Pharm BS.

A couple,of good books I’ve read on this are FOOD POLITICS and SODA POLITICS,both by Marion Nestle(no connection to Nestle foods). She has Phd in molecular biology and is a nutritionist and public health advocate.
She details the revolving door between FDA and food industry executives.
It is very difficult to get honest information about healthy eating because of the astronomical amount of money the food industry spends corrupting scientists and nutritional advocates. For example the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics controls education and licensing of dietitians in the U S,they get the majority of their funding from the food industry.
Dietitians are considered to be experts on nutrition by the average American but they promote a lot of misinformation.AAND still advocates for seed oils.
Scientists are likewise corrupted.Anyone remember the study by LSU Pennington Research Center on sugar. They determined that sugar intake had nothing to do with obesity,it was all due to lack of exercise. The study was funded by Coca-Cola.

All of our food is trash and tastes like shite. Anyone that has grown their own veggies like tomatoes knows how shite it is. Hell, I prefer the local tiny wild bananas to the industrial crap served up at Walmart.

That graph is lacking the entire continent of Africa. The rest of the countries on that graph are lacking any significant African descendants.

I highly suggest listening to Peter Attia, Rhonda Patrick, What I’ve Learned (YouTube channel), and Dr Pradip Jamnadas. You’ll get enough info from them on the modern American diet to know that we are 100% killing ourselves.
All of this. It's all on YouTube. I've been all over this for over 30 years.
If a person could only do one thing it would be avoid refined foods. Not just processed because everything is processed as soon as it is picked from the tree or crop. But refining, i.e. concentrating it and consuming it is the worst thing humans have ever done. You can track societies and their health and as soon as they started consuming refined foods then the occurrence of disease skyrocketed. Maybe if you have absolutely nothing available then ok but NO american is in that situation.

Two reasons 1) the shite we sell as “food” in the US cannot be sold in other countries. 2) the health care system is so full of waste and abuse. Insurance costs are outrageous. Corporate Profits above all else. That’s ultimately where we are as a country
As Dr. James DiNicolantonio said, “Eating the standard American diet will have you stuck in an American hospital using your American healthcare insurance where you’ll be prescribed drugs from an American Pharmaceutical Company.”
They provide the problem and the “cure”
There’s a reason Americans can eat the same foods in other countries and not feel like shite.

Exact thing my wife and I said we just got back from Europe on two week trip. Night and day difference the way you feel after eating over there

This is a bigger deal than most realize.
But yeah, the food ingredients as well

You’d be surprised. Most European countries have close to the same caloric intake as we do.

Agreed. While capitalism is great, it's also a breeding ground for absolutely shitty people. Add in shareholders, and here we are... Absurd medical costs, shite food thats too expensive, self checkouts, layoffs, embarrassingly high cost for higher education, etc...

Testosterone can also be bought OTC in lots of those countries. Can’t get put on 500mg of test to optimize your levels around 1500-2000, but you can get put on it if you want to change genders.
Lots of hormone problems here likely being caused by the shite quality food (and also lack of activity level).

Just spent a week in Israel. I can tell you one thing unequivocally. The quality of the food we eat in the US is horrible.
Everything I ate in Israel was of higher quality, down to the watermelon. It was just better in every way. On top of that, I lost weight while I was there. The contrast was just amazing.

Food quality is the problem, not activity level. It all started with the sham 7 Country Study by Ancel Keys an continued through the USDA pushing bad science to push products. Throw in a food industry that just wants to push cheap shite for profits and a Pharma industry that just wants you to take their pills for life and here we are. Seed oils, HFCS and cheap grains are the core of the processed foods that lead to this. Eat "real food" and you will be as healthy as you can be. Stay on the perimeter of the grocery store. The food you should be eating doesn't have a shelf life of month/years.
Everyone should read what SpartanSoul wrote again, it’s all correct.
Replace vegetable/seed oil with olive oil -> win
Replace carbs with lean protein and vegetables -> win
Replace soda and sugar coffee with unsweet tea, black coffee or water -> win
Make sugar an occasional treat -> win
I bet we could add five years to our average mortality just with those four steps and reduce BMI back to 1990 levels without consuming fewer calories.

That can cause your body to stop producing testosterone naturally though, I’d be careful with that path unless your doctor is involved.
