Imagine Dave Van Horn watching Jay win it all in season 2.

This man arguably built and has been at the helm of one of the premier baseball programs in the country for 20 years. Was a foul ball catch away from a title a few years ago. Saw State, Ole Miss and now LSU win nattys. Always has had as talented or more talented rosters than all 3. Went 2-2 against us during the season including the SECT. Then gets to watch Jay in YEAR 2 win the whole enchilada. The man deserves a standing ovation from every college baseball fan in the world if he eventually wins one before retirement.

Or imagine Magician2 doing the same thing.

I’m all about sportsmanship but I honestly don’t care about Dave Van Horn. I hope we beat them every single time and Jay wins 10 more before they sniff Omaha.
I mean I’d write a piece about Mike Martin first. 43 straight post seasons, 17 CWS and zero rings.

It's freaking hard to win the CWS.

It’s crazy they haven’t won one they’ve had some damn fine teams over the years

That's what they say, and we were a missed play from losing it a few times this year, but man, once you watch your team win 7 of them, that kinda rings hollow.

The Hog fans are bad enough without a CWS title. God help us that live amongst them if they ever win one.
They already loudly announce they’ve got the best program in college baseball.
frick them!!
DVH is a great coach and I hope he retires with zero CWS titles!!

How does it ring hollow? If anything, Arkansas and Florida State put in perspective how remarkable LSU's efficiency in Omaha actually is especially considering the volume of appearances. Even Texas has won only 6 out of 38 times in Omaha. We have half the appearances but more rings.
It is damn hard to win the whole thing. The only teams with better titles per Omaha appearance ratios are teams that seldom make it and happened to pull through when they did (Coastal won it all in their only appearance for example). Oregon State has won it 3/7 times in Omaha and Vandy won it 2/5.
I'd wager out of the teams that have double digit Omaha appearances, only USC has hit paydirt at a higher clip than us. And they in particular haven't even been there in over 2 decades and have missed the tournament altogether 16 of the last 17 times which is pathetic. To put that in perspective, LSU has only missed the entire field 4 total times since 1985. USC has missed it 4x as much in the last 17 seasons

7 national Championships and a runner up finish. No one else comes close to that since 1985.

It's weird how people calculate these things sometimes, as if making it to Omaha and losing is worse than not making it there at all. But if you make it that often, it's a real disappointment that you've never won it all. FSU being the ultimate example.

I’d rather lose in supers than go 2 and bbq in Omaha. Ultimate gut punch.
That’s just me though.

That's not the point I was making at all. I did that to show that of teams that make Omaha most often, none really seem to win the title at the clip that LSU does. I even brought up the one team that historically does have a lot of appearances with a better clip of titles just to show that they haven't been there in over 20 years which is why their all time clip is still high - they've sucked for so long that they haven't made any Omaha appearances to dilute their stat hell they can't even make the tourney at all anymore, while LSU is still making the postseason basically every year for the last 40 years.

I like the gif that replaced the ball with the trophy.

Being in the final 8 of the 19 times you make it is remarkable in and of itself. Winning 7 of those is even more unbelievable.

Yeah good guy and all, still hope they never win a title.
