HDCPs are stupid.

Okay, I really do understand the purpose, it's just after years and years of golf, you would think there would be a better system.
Played in an after work golf league that gives strokes to certain players. Shot even par 36 and lost by 7 shots. Finished 22nd.
One of the players in our group shot 52 and (with strokes) ended up at -2.
The better you are, the more you are penalized. Damn I love this game.

Unless they are flighted, I despise handicapped tournaments for this very reason. I've stopped playing in them. 99% of the time the guy that shot a 52 (-2) doesn't even have a legit handicap too.

In the 1990’s, I started playing in our club championship. My game was good, but not elite, so I signed up for the flight just below the championship flight. Unlike the championship flight, we used our handicaps. Over two days, I had the lowest score. But I lost to a guy I had beaten by 5 strokes because he was getting 3 strokes a day on me. After that year, I decided to play in the championship flight with no handicaps, and take my lumps. Much better.
