Looking into buying a 150 but has the slight rattle upon start for about 2 seconds then goes away. Debating on getting it fixed for 4K or just leaving it. I’ve heard that it doesn’t damage anything just makes the noise. Anyone else kept their cam phasers in and dealt with the noise?

You will replace them a few times, so it's not just $4000. Buy a 5.0.

A friend's 5.0 had the tick and he started running 20w50 and it went away.

That could also actually just be a bad/cheap drainback valve in the oil filter. I've seen that happen with a couple of brands of oil filter.

they had a re-call a couple of year ago to help program that out but if it keeps rattling eventually you'll need to have them replaced. in 2021 they changed the design of the phaser to prevent it.

ETA: from my understanding its pretty hard to swap them out on your own - the dealerships end up pulling the cabs off the chassis to do it quicker/easier.

Recall will cover the repairs if it's under warranty. It takes them two visits to replace them.....My dealership only charged like $2800 to replace
