What would be required to reform government will never be done because it requires those profiting from how things are to take away from themselves.

DC does not draw many selfless civil servants. What is DOES draw are highly ambitious people wanting to reach the peak of their career, usually through any means necessary. Couple that with a glut of corporate and foreign money looking to steer governance in this country, and short of a violent uprising, the people have practically lost any ability to influence Washington DC.

That "town" needs to be ended. State elected officials need to be called back closer to home and made accountable to the states and districts they serve. The US intelligence community needs to be gutted. The overall spread of government needs to be trimmed back substantially. Virginia shouldn't be getting filled with millionaires from "civil servants".

None of this will happen. The inmates are running the asylum.
