I saw a video from Phil Gaimon in my youtube feed so I'm giving it a look - the talk of doping is all the rage in the cycling world and he's going to address it, so I'll put notes below:

Just watched. Great points and insight. I forget we said the same thing about Pog 2 years ago and well, everyone who wins in a convincing fashion.

I thought he was, and I still think he is Jonas was just better this time. The load of the spring season and the other marginal gains tilted it towards Jonas and away from Pog, sure. But I think Phil is downplaying the magnitude of what we saw yesterday.

Phil's arguing in the comments that improving tech, nutrition, recovery, etc. is why we're seeing superhuman efforts. That's fine and it makes some sense. But when you compare apples to apples, what Jonas is doing is an enormous anomaly. Tech improvements don't make someone gap generational riders like they're standing still in a way that no one's ever done.

Again, I don't care one bit. It seems too good to be true, but it's damn entertaining. Hell I think Lance should get his 7 tours back. Because at the end of the day you still have to get out there and ride the bike better than anyone else and that's what Jonas is doing.
