What is the story behind Championship Gold? Counting this year, we have worn gold in only 3 of the 7 championships.

1991 Grey

1993 Pinstripes

1996 Gold

1997 Purple

2000 White

2009 Gold

2023 Gold

The thought of linking to Glenn Dildeau, makes me nauseous; Google is your friend.

Your pictures answered your question, 1996 The term Championship Gold doesn’t mean the wore gold all the time. It is a color designation like royal purple or blood red

I think I like the Grey unis the most.

Pinstripes giving me "The Natural" vibes.

1996

I have always liked the Gold Jersey's the best. Theres just something about those Jersey's they just look so clean. And Jay said last year those are his favorite Jersey's too and it takes everything he has to not wear them more often lol

The 2008 hot streak of something like 23 games in a row that turned the program around.

i don’t mind them.

but man, i hate how the Pinstripes have been relegated to obscurity.

they’re by far our best looking uniform.

also, interesting note: none of our uniforms say LSU now.

To answer your question, the 2008 23 game win streak is when it caught on. I think we wore gold the entire time and it stuck. It may have been called Championship Gold before then, but that’s when it became a thing.

Ask Warren Morris & Dyan Crews.

Pinstripes are just so classic. Gold are just iconic now. And damn those 2000 whites are awful.

In the 2017 CWS championship vs Florida, we wore purple in both games. Can anybody explain that?
