I don’t mind the runner’s lane rule, I just think there should be a point, 10 or so feet before the bag, where you are allowed to cross the foul line

I do not want them to go to those stupid double bases

In the umpires mechanics manual there is a provision for the last few feet to touch the base

The Florida runner last night was in fair territory the whole way to the base
Violation the correct call was made period

People who don’t understand how officiating works should not comment also should not assume a tv or radio commentator knows anything about officiating because they don’t

Most people know just enough about rules and officiating to make themselves look uninformed which they are

The rule typically applies to when the runner have his right foot on the line or in fair territory, not when your left foot is barely inside of the line and no contact is made.

That really defeats most of the purpose. It's not only to give a lane for throwing...it's to prevent collisions between 1B and the runner.

The play in the championship was a decent example where Tre Morgan flinched and didn't stretch toward where the ball was coming from because there would have been a collision.

I'm not justifying the rule. I'm just pointing out it's similar to the slide directly into 2B rule and the no contact with catcher rule. It's for safety.
