I can only imagine the bitching if they charged for access to a pier in LA, like they do in FL
. Also, you're not catching anything different 100 yards off the shore in LA than you are from the side of the road. Not really comparable.

90% of ours get destroyed every time a hurricane comes through. Then they sit, looking like hell, for the next 3-4 years. We've also got a hell of a lot more "beach front" that makes sense for public fishing piers.
