One of my favorite things in sports is teaching a new fan about the game. You should be able to enjoy that.

I don’t have to do it as much anymore but I was giving constant commentary explaining situations / possibilities / rules / context / players through the regional.

Yesterday one on first nobody out she says, “so pitching for a double play right?” Put a smile on my face.

Helps that LSU has been fun to watch this CWS, but seeing someone slowly become invested and fascinated is a blast!

Her first football game was vs Texas in 2019 when we started dating — needless to say she became a football fan for life that year

You don't understand...

She has ADD. She will ask the same questions over and over during the year. I will even have to say, remember, we just talked about this.

- Explain the infield fly rule again?
- What does a balk mean again?
- (Every time, 2 outs, and a guy on third base, ground out to first): If he touched home base before he caught it at first, did that run count?

And then, in situations, I will start explaining something to her and she'll start arguing the rules with me. How stupid that is. And I'm like, it's been a rule since the 1800's, I don't know what to tell you, f*ck.

Dude, I love her to death. And she LOVES anything LSU sports (we're both grads), and her son tells me she really didn't until we got together. She's all in. But she just drives me crazy sometimes. But I'll take that all day over the alternative.

to be fair i didn't even understand what happened on that play with morgan hiding the ball and had to re-read the explanation on here a few times.

this is a great thread.

Some more encouragement for you — one of the first games we watched I thought she had wrapped her mind around the concept of balls and strikes.

Come to find out she thought every pitch a batter didn’t swing at was a ball (I almost don’t blame her for this though because, in hindsight, it was a Moser game — so that very close to “checks out” lol).

Once she got past that it all clicked. She doesn’t argue with me about rules she asks me about though, I’ll give you that
